The Peripheral City – A Rooftop Exhibition
The Peripheral City is a temporary rooftop exhibition that offers a glimpse into the future of the built environment of Sydney CBD. Through the lens of early career architectural designers, the curated projects aim to showcase speculative contemporary visions that re-define the boundaries of our city. Each designer will be given the opportunity to present the key values and focus of their practice using the site of the rooftop as the catalyst.
The exhibition will feature a rooftop walk around a large installation of the speculative architectural visions to the backdrop of the city. A selected round-table of speakers will also raise the imminent issues that face the design of our city and discuss inventive smart design solutions.
This special event is part of an initiative to activate an otherwise underutilised rooftop space in Surry Hills featuring an open rooftop, informal indoor gallery space and pop-up bar set up exclusively for the Sydney Design Festival.
A collaboration between Project Archonic, a platform that showcases emerging architectural talent, and Disruptor’s Handbook, a leading strategy and innovation firm. Proceeds of ticket sales will also contribute to the ongoing creative practice of the emerging designers.
