Museum of Applied Arts and SciencesMeet Akira Isogawa and master patternmaker Takahiro Shirai in this hands-on workshop as a Sydney Design Festival exclusive.
During the Sydney Design Festival, Akira Isogawa and Takahiro Shirai will be in residence in the Maker’s Studio within the exhibition Akira Isogawa. This exhibition is the first to explore Isogawa’s career of more than 25 years, revealing the background, impulses and cultural influences that have contributed to the making of a fashion original.
In this exciting workshop opportunity, participants will explore process and materiality, working together with our special guests to examine and experiment with texture, the fold, and how these can be used on the body to express movement. The session offers a unique opportunity to hear from Isogawa and Shirai about their long-running collaborative creative practice as they share their work with young textile artists and designers.
We recommend allocating some time to view the exhibition prior to or following the workshop.
