AGDA presents: Inclusivity or exclusivity?
Inclusivity or exclusivity? The role of design in an ever changing world.
Accessibility, participatory design, and designing for diversity and inclusion are hot topics right now. But what is the role of design? Is design about inclusivity and accessibility, or is design about exclusivity? Some would argue design has always been about who not to design for. In this Pecha Kucha style format which proved hugely successful in 2018, we will ask 7 industry-leading designers to give their point of view on the topic.
- Paul Merrell – Founder of Meld Studios
- Lucy Gavan – Senior Strategist, Interbrand
- Danling Xiao – Founder and Designer, Mundane Matters
- Tara Mckenty – Creative Director, Google APAC
- Nick Gascoigne – Design Consultant, Qantas Loyalty Ventures
- Alison Batholomeusz – Senior designer, Mentally Friendly
- Andrew Hoyne – Founder, Hoyne
Key topics that will be covered
How do we design for diversity and inclusion?
Is co-design a fundamental requirement of design accessibility?
Is Human Centred Design the same as Humanity Centred Design?
If Human Centred Design is so popular, why are there no Human Centered Designers?
What’s the role of AI in design accessibility?
A Pecha Kucha style presentation (Screen & Speech). Pecha Kucha is a dynamic presentation style where each slide appears on screen for 20 seconds and automatically moves onto the next slide after those 20 seconds. A total of 20 slides make up a complete presentation, giving the speaker a concise 6 minutes and 40 seconds to present. As you can imagine it’s thrilling to watch (and thrilling to do).
