Founded in 2001, with a wide range of realized works, the standardarchitecture studio has emerged as one of the most critical and innovative protagonists from the new generation of Chinese architectural practices. Zhang Ke’s recent works include the Novartis Campus Building in Shanghai, a number of Hutong and courtyard transformation projects in the center of Beijing and various buildings embedded in the landscape of Tibet. The results are visually provocative and stunning structures that maintains a respect and grounding in the historic and cultural setting.
Zhang Ke is a busy man! A past speaker at Architecture 2.0 Symposium in Rotterdam, Milan Design Week and Helsinki Design Week, we are honoured to welcome him to Sydney on March 6 for a special Sydney Design Festival keynote.
Recent awards include the Alvar Aalto Medal, 2017, the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, 2016; International Award Architecture in Stone, 2011; the Design Vanguard by Architecture Record, 2010; China Architecture Media Award (CAMA), Best Young Architect Prize, 2008; and the WA Chinese Architecture Award, 2010 and 2006.
