The UNSW Built Environment Master of Architecture Social Agency stream uses Sydney as a ‘living lab’ with the objective of creating architects who assist communities by addressing inequality. This year’s Master of Architecture students have been based at 107 Projects in Redfern to conceptualise ideas around Resilient Neighbourhoods – during March their ideas will be presented in this exhibition.
This unique studio opportunity has enabled students to explore the translation of social, political and economic components of resilience into urban built form and develop an architecture of resilience around the themes of wellbeing, inclusion and creativity. Students have engaged with communities to design the redevelopment of a unique site composed of three adjacent buildings: the Sydney Mental Health Service, the community and arts collective 107 Projects, and the Aboriginal Medical Service Co-operative.
Come and see how the new generation of architects are re-imagining the architect’s role in engaging with complex urban issues and needs.
Opening Night: March 7, 6-9pm
