We hear a lot about China’s huge cities, but what about the countryside? Rural Urban Framework aims to refocus attention on the Chinese countryside, exploring new ways of living which champion public space, community and collaboration.
Join us for a keynote talk by Joshua Bolchover, where he will discuss the Ger Community Hub, a major architectural commission for Common Good.
Bolchover is currently an Associate Professor at The University of Hong Kong. He set up Rural Urban Framework (RUF) with John Lin in 2005 with the remit to create a not-for-profit agency as a platform for design and research. Involved in 15 projects across China, Rural Urban Framework tracks the transformative power of design in rural settings. RUF’s projects have been internationally exhibited at the Venice Biennale 2016, the Design Museum London 2016 and The Chicago Biennale 2015.
RUF awards include the RIBA International Emerging Architect Award 2016, The Curry Stone Design Prize 2015 and The Ralph Erskine Prize 2014.
