Translocated Making showcases the results from five research projects in India where a series of collaborations experimented with different ways to harness differences and cultural information. In contrast to globalisation, where goods are often made out of a local context, this project encouraged locals to exchange ideas and practices and use their traditional cultural skills to create new objects.

The objects in the exhibition define a new translocated space between cultural worlds, the hand made and traditional object making and were produced in collaboration with highly skilled copper bellmakers, wooden lac turners in the Rann of Katchchh, master bronze founders and papier mache artists in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Join the conversation and learn more about the project at the Wednesday afternoon artist talk.
