Walk the streets of the future Australian capital and into an urban laboratory and prototypical city for the nation. Travel through time as the city adapts for Australia’s second century.

Proto:capital is a transient city, a network of parts, that will build a landscape of knowledge and experimental practice. See innovation transformed into infrastructure within our cities, and get thinking about imaginative solutions to our national concerns.

Explore an imagined city in many different mediums. Nine architectural models present future city conditions as if viewed under a microscope supported by a stop-motion film and illustrations.

Share your imaginings and concerns for Australia’s future through a public art display that will grow over time.
