Design Re-Think will explore issues of the historical movement in design with guest speakers Lou Weis, Prof Richard Goodwin, Dr Kevin Murray and Paul Pholeros.
Lecture 1: Paul Pholeros of Healthabitat - Toward fashion or future?
Paul will talk about mainstream architectural practice with particular focus on sustainability and housing for health.
Lecture 2: Lou Weis, Broached Commissions – The weight of social responsibility and our objects. Lou Weis will discuss the IKEA generation and the act of owning things that bear no responsibility compared to the Chinese concept of ‘Ren’ and responsibility.
Lecture 3: Professor Richard Goodwin will discuss his work exploring the intersection of art, design and architecture in the POROSITY project. POROSITY is a creative investigation into the possibilities of future cities and engages students and industry professionals to collaborate. POROSITY projects were recently exhibited in ISEA 2013, as a part of VIVID Sydney.
Lecture 4: Dr Kevin Murray of Sangam - Luck by design: Amulets for modern living. The charm is one of many customary forms whose relational power can be recovered as a social object.
