Meet the artists who make up Pop Up Parramatta and Parramatta Artists Studios and contribute to the burgeoning creative community in western Sydney.

Re-think the way we experience previously empty, now creative spaces. See how design and engagement can transform and revitalise urban landscapes in transition. The designers in Pop Up Parramatta and the Parramatta Artists Studios talk about their practice, creating beautiful designs, handmade objects and how the commission process contributes to the depth and dynamism of our society.

Join this fun and engaging tour with MC Lisa Cahill, a highly skilled individual who has worked in various capacities in the arts and creative industries. You’ll find out the language of creatives who are at a new frontier of development in the fastest growing area, and geographical centre, of Sydney.

Lisa Cahill is an educator, curator and producer. She is an adjunct curator at Object: Australian Centre for Design and is currently the Executive Director of the Australian Design Alliance. Lisa currently facilitates an online program for visual artists and designers for the National Association for the Visual Arts and is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales.

The artists and speakers include:

Fashion designer Ruth Fattal  (focusing on a limited palette)

Simon Cook from mpathé  (talking about the informal garden sculpture he created in a laneway)

Wez Champion from Loutky Puppets  (talking about commission work and processes and about the beautiful Czech style carved puppets he creates)

Kiri Morcombe from WeAve Parramatta  (talking about social community projects and design aspects)

Chrissie Ianssen (about commission work for Parramatta Artists studios based on geometric designs)

Architect Tarik Ahlip
