Concrete – heavy, cold, grey. Or is it? This project reinvents concrete as a material and challenges conventional notions associated with this most versatile of products. By highlighting the multiple material and spatial articulations of concrete, along with its colours and textures, this classic building material is a re-assessed and celebrated. The exhibition features design propositions for a research pavilion based on computational, design and fabrication processes. Full-scale prototype models explore the innovative design potential of an advanced, glass-fibre-reinforced concrete panel. The centrepiece of the exhibition is the demonstration room, where visitors will actively experience the atmospheric qualities of the space rather than being shown conventional architectural objects.
